When we moved to Ramona, California, the house came with three chickens. That’s how it started. For Christmas that year, my parents gave our three sons fertile chicken eggs along with a small egg incubator. Two white Leghorns hatched, and our future as chicken farmers began. The kids got interested in raising chickens, and we looked for a way to encourage them in their endeavors and found 4-H. That first year, the boys raised and showed their chickens, raised turkeys, and entered them in our local fair. As their interest increased, so did our menagerie of animals. During our years in the Ramona Wranglers 4-H club, our sons raised chickens, turkeys, ducks, lambs, pigs, dairy calves, and we even had a cow at one point. For those of you with children, participation in 4-H is an awesome experience for families (Benefits of 4-H). We met other families with similar interests and now have life-long friendships.
We began to raise broilers for our own consumption and found that many of our friends and neighbors were interested in purchasing quality, locally raised poultry. We slowly started to increase our production and soon our oldest son, Nicholas began to take over management of our flocks and bring our products to the farmers markets in San Diego. We are proud to produce farm-fresh eggs and high-quality broiler chickens, and we are grateful to our customers for their support.
